A Timeless Philadelphia Wedding at Water Works
Joey and Andrew’s love story began in the one place neither of them expected to find love, on a dating app! Which just goes to show you that you never know when you’re going to stumble, (or swipe) across the love of your life. Six years after their initial connection, after attending the Philadelphia Orchestra’s holiday concert, Andrew insisted on taking a walk to Rittenhouse square, which Joey found strange given it was sleeting and freezing cold outside. Once Andrew got down on one knee in a frozen puddle in the exact spot they first met all those years ago though, things started to fall into place!
While the proposal day weather may have left a little to be desired, the wedding day didn’t disappoint. Our couple woke to a perfect May day and we got right to wedding prep, the Ritz Carlton Residences for Joey, and Andrew at the couple’s home in south Philly. Once our guys were glammed up, the entire wedding party met at the Ritz Residences and our lovebirds had a perfectly picturesque first look on the balcony, while Billy Penn looked on from the top of city hall just yards away. After the first look we made our way down to Broad Street to get the photo every Philly couple needs in their wedding album. Yep, you guessed it, the Broad Street City Hall photo! We checked that must-have off our list and headed over to the wedding venue, getting some awesome wedding party photos on the beautiful grounds of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
The entire event took place at Philadelphia’s iconic Water Works, a national landmark with tons of history, gorgeous neoclassical architecture, and stunning views of the city skyline. Joey and Andrew’s ceremony under the Pavilion was complete with heartfelt vows they wrote themselves and a gorgeous floral chuppah by Beautiful Blooms Events. After we got our guys hitched it was time to party, and EAT! Guests enjoyed Cescaphe’s famously abundant cocktail hour spread in the historic Engine House after which we headed out to the Mill House Deck to dance the night away under the tent. Just when guests thought Joey and Andrew’s wedding couldn’t get any better, Joey surprised Andrew by singing “Because You Loved Me” to him. Backed, of course, by the fabulous Jellyroll. It was such a touching and special moment to be a part of. We’re not crying, you’re crying!
We had such a great time with this fun loving couple. Congratulations Joey & Andrew. Keep scrolling for gorgeous pics by Tina Jay Photography.
