A Chic Tented Wedding on Philadelphia’s Main Line
The short version of how Mary met Tom is that they met at a mutual friend’s Christmas party. The long version, though, involves a hilarious tale about Tom being stuck inside the powder room and an amused Mary being in the right place at the right time when he finally freed himself. She poked fun at him for his trouble with the door, they got to talking, and the rest is history! The charmingly accidental meet cute was followed by a meant-to-be courtship, and soon it was time for Tom to plan a proposal. He invited Mary for a mid-afternoon picnic the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and although she thought it was a bit odd, striking off on their own while both their families were in town for the holiday, she of course said yes. The pair strolled the magical gardens at Chanticleer and after arriving at the top of a little hill to the ruins, Tom dropped down on one knee and asked Mary to marry him. They enjoyed wine and cheese together before returning to the house where both of their families were waiting to celebrate with them.
When we started planning the wedding, Mary and Tom knew that they wanted to host an affair that reflected them as a couple- something that would feel effortless and elegant and really put an emphasis on those that mean most to them. So we started to dream up a wedding that felt close to home, literally. The ceremony would take place in Mary’s home parish, on the Villanova campus where Tom works, and the reception would be held in the backyard of Mary’s family home. On the wedding day we woke to perfect blue skies and Mary and her girls got ready at the house with Amanda D’Andrea and Face the Occasion for glam. Sarah DiDicco documented the day and everyone’s favorite pup, Colby, was only too happy to assist. After a first look in the garden, the whole group headed over to St. Thomas of Villanova for the ceremony. Once our lovebirds said “I do” in a traditional catholic ceremony it was time for the real fun to begin!
Back at the house, guests enjoyed cocktails around the pool, courtesy of Spirit Forward, and as the sun started to set we headed into the magnificent, custom tent built by our friends at Eventquip. The inside of the tent was filled with hanging lanterns, and SAC design set the scene with crisp white hydrangea centerpieces and fresh magnolia garlands. We were wined and dined by J Scott Catering and Elevation kept us on the dance floor all night! Keep scrolling for all the lovely details.
