Tacos and Tequila, a Colorful Bridal Shower Fiesta at Distrito

We love a bridal shower. Getting together with the girls, games, gifts, some light day-drinking, what’s not to love? So when Katie’s squad came to us and said, “we want all that but let’s take it up a notch!” We were, of course, one thousand percent in.

The goal was to create an event that would be a fun, lighthearted contrast to Katie and Kyle’s upcoming ballroom wedding and to blend all the best parts of a traditional ladies-only shower with a big time party everyone could be invited to. Katie and Kyle are big on celebrating with everyone, so a blended co-ed shower was a must!

Distrito was the perfect venue for just such a fiesta. We started upstairs with a luncheon for just the ladies. There were custom maraca favors, tacos, tons of colorful flowers by Petals Lane and super festive balloon installations by Papertini. Once the games were complete, the prizes handed out and the gifts opened, the gals grabbed their mini tequila favors and headed downstairs for an “after party” where all the guys were waiting to continue the celebration! From there we hosted a mustache contest, played a few more games, took plenty of tequila shots and finished off the day with churros and cake! Whew!

Katie and Kyle are such a fun couple with such a big love for each other, It was an honor to get to plan not one but two events to celebrate their love. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post about their wedding!
